Mock funeral held at California State U. chancellor’s office to protest budget cuts
Staff and faculty members of the California State University system came out on Wednesday, Sept. 23 to protest recent actions that the board of trustees has made to solve this year’s fiscal deficit. The protest took place in the form of a mock funeral right outside of the office of Chancellor Charles B. Reed in Long Beach, during a board of trustees meeting at 10:30 a.m.
Cal Poly student wins $600k playing poker
A Cal Poly English senior defeated the competition and raked in a large sum of money for his first-place win in Event 49 at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas.
Former Cal Poly football player passes away
Ernie Cooper, who played on the Cal Poly football team from 2005-08, died Thursday at his home in Huntington Beach, Calif. Cooper, who turned 25 on June 17, was found unresponsive by a friend and could not be revived. The cause is still to be determined.
