Indiana State U. ranks among best in Midwest

When most people think of the best Midwestern colleges, they usually think of universities like Ohio State University, Michigan State University, Illinois State University or Purdue University. The Princeton Review feels differently. The company that prepares people for college has compiled their annual rankings for the top Midwestern schools, and Indiana State University is toward the top for the sixth consecutive year.

Column: Sick students should be allowed to skip class

We've all been in that class where one student is sick. This student doesn't want to be in class, preferring a hot cup of tea and an all-day nap. However, this student is forced out of bed because there is a test in the class, and the professor's attendance policy requires the student to be there or receive a zero. This is the big problem: teachers' attendance policies make it impossible for students to stay away from class to recover. With the outbreak of H1N1 flu, also known as swine flu, this puts everyone in the classroom in jeopardy.
