Local News for Boston College

BC looks to fill gap of two NFL draft picks at defensive tackle

Replacing a 300-pound, first-round pick, defensive lineman is a hard enough task as it is. Replacing a second 300-pound defensive lineman who was a second-round pick, on top of that, is a nightmare.

Spaziani grows into role of BC head football coach

Frank Spaziani has been the head coach of the Boston College football team for less than nine months, but talking with him in his office, you would think he's been there as long as his former coach Joe Paterno.

BC linebacker continues to battle cancer

Everyone can remember the last time they saw Mark Herzlich before the news hit on May 14. For many, it came from the stands at Alumni Stadium, watching the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year as he intimidated opponents with the physicality and tenacity of a future NFL first rounder. For others - particularly students at Boston College - that last sighting came off the field. Maybe Herzlich was doing volunteer work. Maybe he was receiving an athletic or academic award. Or maybe he was just walking around campus, with the charisma of someone who had become the face of the athletic department, the poster boy for success as a student-athlete at Boston College.
