Court rules in favor of RIAA, BU student ordered to pay

The case of RIAA v. Tenenbaum came to a close July 31 when a federal jury in Boston found Boston University graduate student Joel Tenenbaum guilty of willfully infringing on the copyrights of 30 songs. Tenenbaum’s case was only the second copyright infringement case to go to trial, with most settling out of court. In June 2009, a woman from Minneapolis was ordered to pay $1.92 million for sharing 24 songs, according to state court documents.

Boston U men's soccer can no longer play underdog role

“The first goal is everything.” That’s what Boston University men’s soccer coach Neil Roberts said after his team’s 1-0 victory over top-ranked St. John’s. Steven Knox’s goal in the 34th minute that put the Terriers ahead certainly was a huge reason they were able to defeat the Red Storm on Sunday. But it was a different play by Knox later in the game that really defined the Terriers’ season up to this point.

Boston ranks below New York, San Francisco as best college city

Boston University students were shocked to hear that their beloved city, home to almost 30 colleges and universities, ranked only as the third best college city in America this year. The Boston Business Journal, in last week’s issue, ranked Boston as the third best college city, following New York in first place and San Francisco in second.
