Laid off Bowling Green State U. staff offered helping hand
The recent layoffs at the Bowling Green State University has put those who are out of work in a difficult situation and members of the university staff have come together to help those in need. Faith Olson, a fiscal officer for the college of education, has created Helping Hands, a program designed to assist laid off or displaced staff from the university who seek help in affording basic items.
Bowling Green State U. examines minority enrollment
In fall 2008, minority students made up 16.7 percent of incoming freshmen, a number which has fallen over four percent in the last three years, but the number of minority students overall at the Bowling Green State University has remained high.
Health care reform sparks protest in Bowling Green
After hundreds of requests for Congressman Bob Latta to hold a public town hall-style meeting on health care reform were ignored, over 50 citizens within Ohio’s Fifth District vehemently protested in front of his local office by repeating slogans and holding up bright, blue signs stressing the need for nationwide, affordable health care coverage for every American citizen.
